Privacy policy

GidiLife is a free Lagos life simulation game. We collect as little as we can. If you play offline, your game stays on your device. If you play online, we store what's needed to save your life to your account and let you play with others. We don't sell your data, show ads or use third-party trackers.
1. What we collect
Offline play (no account)
Your character, save and settings are stored only in your browser on your device. We don't receive them. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
Your account (online play)
- Your name and email address.
- Your password, stored only as a secure one-way hash (bcrypt). We can't see your password.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email, profile picture and Google account ID, as shared by Google.
Your online life
- Your game state (character, money, items, relationships, progress) and the moves you make. We check moves on our server to keep the game fair.
- Social activity: where your character is in the game, direct messages you send to other players, waves and in-game money transfers. Location chat (“gist”) is passed to players at the same place in real time and is not stored.
Usage and crash reports
- Anonymous visit counts: a random visitor ID in a cookie, the page you opened and when. We use this to count visits and unique visitors. We don't store your IP address for this. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don't count you.
- Crash reports: if something breaks, your browser sends us the error message and technical details, the page, your browser type and, if you're signed in, your user ID, so we can fix it.
- Security: your IP address is used briefly in memory to prevent abuse (for example, rate limits on sign-in and messages). It isn't saved.
3. How we use your information
- To run the game, save your online life and sync it across your devices.
- To let you meet, chat with and send in-game money to other players.
- To keep the game fair and safe: preventing cheating, spam and abuse.
- To understand how many people play and to fix crashes.
- To reply when you contact us.
5. How long we keep it
- Account, online life and messages: until you delete your account.
- Daily visit records: 120 days. Visit totals are kept as anonymous counts.
- Crash reports: until the problem is fixed and the report is deleted.
6. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (and similar laws where you live, such as the GDPR), you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data,
- correct it,
- delete your account and data,
- stop or limit how we use it, or move it elsewhere.
Email oluwayeluifeoluwa@gmail.com from the address on your account and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or your local data protection authority.
7. Children
GidiLife isn't meant for children under 13, and online play is for players 13 and over. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact oluwayeluifeoluwa@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
8. Security and storage
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, short-lived tokens for live play and access limits on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use elsewhere. Our providers may store data outside Nigeria; when they do, we rely on safeguards required by law.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes we'll tell you in the game. Also see our Terms of service.
